City Tile started their wholesale business out of their garage, in September of 1999. Since they opened they have expanded into four different locations. One of those expansions began five years ago as Vincenzo D’Andrea and Dominic Staniscia formed a partnership and created City Tile in Nanaimo Ltd.

       The partnership could not have come at a better time. For the past five years, City Tile Nanaimo has experienced growing success and within those few years have expanded more than double the size, from 4,200 to 9,200 square feet of building space.

       City Tile is a distributor of ceramic, porcelain, slate, travertine, granite, glass and stainless steel tiles; making us Vancouver Islands biggest and best selection for tiles. At any time one can view 2,200 varieties of tile and natural stones in the store, with new arrivals monthly. The selection, prices and service are incomparable, that people come to City Tile from as far south as Victoria and from as far north as Port Hardy.

       City Tile in both locations imports tile and natural stone from all around the world. Even though Italian craftsmen have a reputation for creating the most elaborate of tiles, they also import from other countries that produce extremely high quality products. They import the travertine from Turkey and also high quality products that in fact come from China such as slates. 

       To City Tile quality is the most important thing. The prices are comparable to anywhere because they don’t deal with a middle man. The company President Dominic Staniscia travels the world with Vincenzo to buy these products so they pass the savings on to their customers.

       City Tile works on a cash and carry basis, with them what you see is what you get. Customers can pull up and get everything they need to complete their home project. There are no sample boards to look through or waiting for orders to arrive, just the satisfaction of knowing you are getting the product you can see and touch. If there is a product you are interested in and there is not enough stock there are weekly orders to accommodate your needs, City Tile also has local deliveries and can ship your product anywhere on Vancouver Island.

       They also work with specific companies to help customers with a one-stop-shop. They carry Mapei setting materials as well as being a distributor for Hardi Backer, Duratrim, Schluter: Shower Systems– Ditra – Trims, and Warmly Yours heat pads.  

       To help with the Environment, City Tiles' manufacturers are working on green product lines which as those lines come in, City Tile will have them.
